There are many matriculants struggling to find work, even some matriculants who have done further studies and have a degree, but how long should a matriculant spend time looking for work before trying a different approach to earning an income?
Well, if a year has passed since a matriculant started looking for work, or since a university graduate started looking for work, and that person is still having no luck getting a job, things will not be looking very good at all.
Depression may set in, causing these unemployed youngsters to put less effort into continuing to try finding a job.
Of course I am not suggesting that matriculants look for work for only one week before considering a different approach to earning an income, but that they and their family and friends be aware of how depressed they all may become if a matriculant continues to have no luck finding work for ...

If you finish matric and ask yourself “What now?” then, no, Matric does not prepare you for life after school. Also, matric does not prepare you for life after school if you ask yourself any of the following questions after matriculating:
How do I choose what to study after matric?
What must I do to try and get financial assistance for further studies?
What must I do to find a job after matric?
How long should I look for a job before rather starting my own business from home?
How would I go about starting my own business from home?
What will I need to own or buy before moving out of the family home?
If you do know the answers to the above questions, but you learned these answers at home on your own or through your parents, and not at school during your matric year, then you might still say that matric does not prepare ...

The 2011 headboy or head leader of Lilyfontein School near East London, South Africa was my cousin Ryno Jooste. My sons also attend Lilyfontein school, and are currently just finishing off their grade 7 and grade 8 years at Lilyfontein. In just a few years’ time my sons will also be doing their matric at Lilyfontein.
I interviewed Ryno about his matric year, about his time spent at Lilyfontein, and about his future plans. I hope that my questions and Ryno’s answers may help other 2011 matriculants, or those making their subjects choices towards the end of grade 9, or 2012 matrics.
The Interview:
1 )
Hello Ryno and thank you for agreeing to do this inteview. I hope it helps many other South African matriculants – and their parents!
Ryno:
You’re welcome and I hope so too.
2 )
When did you choose the subjects you did in matric 2011?
Ryno:
At the end of my grade 9 school ...

So you’re a young adult who has a job, but you need to earn more money than you are. Your monthly living expenses are only just covered by your salary leaving nothing over for you to spend on things you want or enjoy, or not even your monthly living expenses are being properly covered.
What can you do to earn more money?
Speak to your boss about a salary increase.
Ask your boss if you can trade some leave days for pay instead.
Ask your boss if you can work a little overtime – an hour here or there in each week of each month can add up nicely.
If you’re working shifts, make it known to the other shift workers that you are readily available to work their shifts should they require that somebody work their shift for them. Be careful with this, though. You cannot work work work and never sleep. It will ...

Of course matriculants can make money online, but only if they want to badly enough and if they put in the time and effort required. How much money do matriculants need to start making money online? Often no money is needed to start.
So, if no money is required for matriculants to make money online, what do matriculants require to make it all happen?
Well, the basics would include a way to get paid. A bank account. Maybe a PayPal account too.
What else?
Time. Time to look at many different online income opportunities and to decide which online income opportunities are worth attempting.
Time to do the work required to make the money.
Dedication.
Knowing what your strong points are, or working on your weak points before attempting an opportunity that may be a bit difficult to do.
Your strong point? Writing. Good research skills. Good grammar and spelling. An enjoyment of writing. Opportunity? Make money from ...

If teenagers cannot find a job after matric, and if teenagers do not have the money for starting up their own business, here is an income opportunity that is free to start:
Create a free blog at Blogger
Write and add lots of blog posts (articles) to your blog (your own original writing, not any copied writing), at least 10 or so blog posts, and consisting of about at least 300 words each
Work at getting lots of traffic (visitors) to your blog
Continue to add lots of blog posts, keeping your grammar and spelling good, and writing family-friendly content only
When you have about 50 visitors a day (you can check in your Blogger account how many visitors a day your blog is getting), or when about 6 months have passed, apply for an Adsense account
Be sure to read through the Google Adsense Program Policies and Webmaster Guidelines, preferably before applying for your Adsense ...

If struggling to find work for a long time after matric, matriculants can start their own business instead! If you’re a matriculant struggling to find work, what would you like to do? Pick anything you are good at, or know quite a bit about, or like doing, and then start doing it, working from home, and make money from it!
Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? Sound unbelievable, doesn’t it? Well, starting your own business, working from home, earning money for yourself can actually be exciting, and can be possible – if you only make the effort to put in the work required. Are you able to work? Can you work? Do you want to work?
Question: What kind of work is this about? What would my business be?
You would be self-employed:
Offering a service, and doing that service
or
Selling products you have made or bought
or
writing about things you know about or have researched
or

I am a parent, a divorced mother, who is willing to financially assist my kids for as long as I am able to. But what if my kids still can’t find a job 2 or 3 years after matric or university? If I am still able to, will I still be willing to financially assist my kids when they should be earning their entire income on their own?
I may not like it if I end up financially assisting my kids into their early twenties or beyond, but they’re my kids. I’m their mother, and as a mother I take on the responsibility of looking after them as best as I can, no matter how old they are. It stands to reason that if you cannot find a job in South Africa, start working for yourself instead, by becoming self-employed, but what about those young people in South Africa who do not want to work for themselves?
How could becoming self-employed help reduce the general unemployment rate in South Africa?
If there were more young people in South Africa becoming self-employed, how could this make more jobs available to those young people who simply just want a job, and don’t mind working for a boss?
(Disclaimer): Based on a bit of logic (whether the ideas could actually work or not), on opinion, and with hopefully not too much blonde thown in, this is my thinking:
When the young people of South Africa matriculate or get their degree or diploma after further studies, they try to get a job. Besides many of them failing to find a job in South Africa, my ...
